Your Genes by Design is part of Inspired Living for Women , a space dedicated to helping women 45+ understand how their bodies work through the lens of genomics.

This newsletter explores how your DNA influences hormones, metabolism, detox, and long-term health, explained in a clear and practical way.

It’s an overview of how genes function within these systems, what they can influence, and what to look for as you start connecting the pieces.

🌿 What You’ll Learn

Each issue breaks down complex science into plain language so it’s easier to follow and understand.

Expect short, focused topics like:

  • Nutrition & Genomics – How your genes affect caffeine, sugar, and nutrient metabolism

  • Hormones & Detox – What drives estrogen balance and how to support your detox pathways

  • Glucose & Energy – How genetic tendencies influence blood sugar, cravings, and fatigue

  • Brain & Longevity Genes – The genetic factors connected to focus, mood, and cognitive health

  • Real-Life Context – How this is reflected in how the body works

Every post connects the science to real life so you can better understand how your body works.

Who It’s For

The Your Genes by Design newsletter is for women 45+ who want to go beyond surface-level wellness advice and understand how their bodies actually work.

If you’re curious about why things change over time, including energy, sleep, hormones, and metabolism, and want explanations that connect to real biology, you’ll feel at home here.

You don’t need a lab background or a genetic report to follow along.

Just curiosity and an interest in understanding how your biology functions beneath the surface.

About Me

Hi, I’m Lauri Wakefield, creator of Your Genes by Design and founder of Inspired Living for Women.

In 2022, a breast cancer diagnosis changed how I think about health and prevention. It led me to look more closely at the biology behind common health concerns, especially how different systems in the body are regulated.

I’ve since studied functional nutrition and functional genomics, with a focus on how genetic pathways influence metabolism, hormones, detoxification, glucose regulation, and overall function.

I’m not a doctor or medical practitioner. My work is educational and focused on helping you understand how your genes function within the body’s systems and how that connects to real life.

Through Your Genes by Design, I share clear, pathway-level explanations so you can better understand how your body actually works.
